DISTRICT JUDGE (25% QUOTA & 10% QUOTA)
The posts of District Judge under direct recruitment and by Accelerated Recruitment by
Transfer from among Civil Judges (Senior Division) who have put in not less than 5 years of
st
qualifying Service by the end of 31 March of the year are filled up by conducting competitive
examinations.
DISTRICT JUDGE (65% QUOTA)
The remaining 65% of the District Judges are selected from the cadre of the Civil Judge
(Senior Division) by promotion.
CIVIL JUDGE (SENIOR DIVISION)
The post of Civil Judges (Senior Division) is filled through promotion from the Civil Judges
(Junior Division) cadre based on merit-cum-seniority.
CIVIL JUDGE (JUNIOR DIVISION)
The posts of Civil Judge (Junior Division) are filled up by conducting competitive
examinations.
SCHEDULE FOR RECRUITMENT OF JUDICIAL OFFICERS
The Hon'ble Supreme Court of India fixed the schedule in Malik Mazhar Sultan & Anr. Vs. UP
Public Service Commission & Ors. for filling up the vacancies in the cadre of District Judges and
Civil Judges.
Accordingly, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh has been following the said schedule and
filling up the vacancies in the cadre of District Judges and Civil Judges every year.
In connection with the current recruitment process of Judicial officers, in so far as, the
role of the High Court for the year 2025 is concerned, in respect of recruitment to the posts of
District Judges, notification issued on 12.03.2025 for 13 posts under direct recruitment, for 1 post
under accelerated recruitment by transfer, eight (8) candidates were provisionally selected, final
results declared on 08.12.2025 and Letter addressed to the Government for issuance of orders.
G.O is awaited.
In respect of recruitment to the posts of Civil Judges (Junior Division) for the year 2025,
notification issued on 14.02.2025 for 40 posts under direct recruitment and 10 posts under
recruitment by tansfer, written examination held on 11.10.2025 and 12.10.2025, further process
is underway.
