Y. Lakshmana Rao

Dr. Justice Y. Lakshmana Rao was born on 3rd August, 1975, to Smt. Padmavathi and
Venkateshwarlu in Kanigiri, Prakasam District. He pursued his schooling and Intermediate
education in Government Institutions in various places of Prakasam District. Dr. Rao, while
studying B.A.L., B.L. at V.R. Law College, Nellore, was awarded Gold Medals in Criminal Law and
Company Law. During his Post-Graduation in Constitutional and Administrative Laws from
Nagarjuna University, Guntur, he received two merit certificates. He accomplished his Doctorate
in Law from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam.
Dr. Rao's judicial career commenced as I Additional District & Sessions Judge, Eluru, West
Godavari District from 25th February, 2014. He worked as Chairman, LRAT-cum-II Additional
District & Sessions Judge, West Godavari, Eluru; Chairman-cum-Presiding Officer, Industrial
Tribunal-cum-Labour Court, Anantapuramu; Principal District & Sessions Judge, Krishna at
Machilipatnam before he was appointed as Registrar (Judicial), High Court of Andhra Pradesh,
Amaravati. Subsequently, he was appointed as Registrar General and functioned as such till his
elevation as Additional Judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh on 24th January, 2025.
