of the State i.e., to mainly ensure the fundamental rights to its citizens and strive to achieve the Directive
Principles.
10) Maharaja Sawai Maansinghji in his inaugural address of the Rajasthan High Court said following words: “I
would ask one and all to join with me in invoking the blessings of the Almighty on this great institution which
is being inaugurated today; and it is our prayer that for all time to come in this Temple of Justice, truth and
righteousness shall prevail, that justice be done between man and man and dispensed without fear, or
favour, and that freedom be maintained and defended.” We also seek the prayers and the blessings of the
almighty to guide us in our work to advance the cause of Justice in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
11) We, in the judiciary, shall have to take care to see that the arrears of court cases which have mounted up
till now get eradicated at the earliest. This cannot be possible without the full and unstinted cooperation of
the members of the Bar and the presiding Judges as partners in the great task of administration of justice.
12) The Bar must cooperate with the Bench to maintain the credibility of the institution. The greatest asset and
the strongest weapon in the armory of the judiciary, said Justice H.R.Khanna in his Tagore Law Lectures in
1985 is “the confidence it commands and the faith it inspires in the minds of the people in its capacity to
do even-handed justice and keep the scales in balance in any dispute”.
13) In order to be successful in its mission the judiciary has to enforce constitutional guarantees and protect
and preserve basic human rights of the people and ensure social justice to the common man, and in this
mission it is absolutely necessary and essential that the two wings of the administration of justice, namely,
the Bench and the Bar, must coordinate and cooperate with each other. Unless the Bar extends its helping
hand, the Bench cannot achieve anything single-handed but together they can meet every challenge.
14) At this juncture, I would like to quote famous words of renowned Scottish writer, Robert Louis Stevenson
- “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds you plant”. I must say that the seeds
are planted for enabling access to justice for all consumers of justice and it will harvest into a blooming
institution.
15) We are brave enough and wise enough to grasp this opportunity and accept the challenge of the future.
We have to labour and to work, and work hard, to give reality to our dreams.
The turning point is past, and history begins a new for us, the history which we shall live and act and others
will write about.
16) We make an appeal to all the citizens of Andhra Pradesh and India to join us with faith and confidence in
this great event. This is no time for petty feelings no time for ill will. We have to build the noble mansion of
a fair and fearless judiciary where all the citizens can live under the umbrella of the Constitution of India.
17) Jawaharlal Nehru on 14th August speaking to the Constituent Assembly said and I quote:
“The future beckons to us. Whither do we go and what shall be our endeavour? To bring freedom and
opportunity to the common man, to the peasants and workers of India; to fight and end poverty and
ignorance and disease; to build up a prosperous, democratic and progressive nation, and to create social,
economic and political institutions which will ensure justice and fullness of life to every man and woman”.
