Advocate General from July, 2000 to May, 2004. He appeared for several companies and statutory bodies including the N.T.R. Matam Venkata Ramana, J., was born on 12.02.1960 in Hyderabad to Smt.Kamala Narayana Rao and Sri M.Narayana Rao, members of a well known family of advocates from Gooty, Anantapur District. His great grandfather, Sri M.Vedavyasachar, his grandfather Sri M.Sethu Rao, and his father Sri M.Narayana Rao practiced as advocates at Gooty, and other courts in Anantapur District.
Following this tradition, he received his LLB from Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya College of Law, Bangalore, and his LLM in Constitutional Law from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He began his professional training under his father, and later served as a junior advocate in the office of Sri KS Jayaram, Senior Advocate, Anantapur. After practising for five years, he was appointed as a District Munsif (Junior Civil Judge) at Chittoor on 01.04.1987, and went on to work in various courts across erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
